The Startup Weekend, an initiative of Techstars, is a global movement dedicated to entrepreneurial education. Organised by volunteers from entrepreneurial communities worldwide, the event provides a fast-paced environment where participants transform ideas into business concepts in just 54 hours.
Throughout my career, I have been deeply involved in this initiative, contributing as an organiser, mentor, and facilitator in various cities across Brazil and beyond. My experience spans diverse editions of the Startup Weekend, each tailored to unique audiences and challenges.
Key Highlights:
- First Edition of Startup Weekend Aveiro (Portugal): In November 2019, I had the privilege of facilitating the inaugural edition of Startup Weekend in Aveiro, Portugal. This milestone event brought together a diverse group of participants to foster innovation and collaboration in the region.
- Startup Weekend São Tomé (São Tomé and Príncipe): In November 2020, I facilitated the first Startup Weekend in São Tomé, creating a space for local entrepreneurs to tackle regional challenges through creative and impactful solutions.
- Startup Weekend Women’s Editions: I played a pivotal role in organising and facilitating editions designed specifically for women. These events not only empowered female participants to take the lead but also ensured that women made up the majority of the organising team and attendees, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
- Social Impact Startup Weekends: As an organiser, I helped drive two editions focused on social impact. These events were dedicated to empowering participants from low-income communities to ideate and develop solutions for pressing issues in their local areas.
- Startup Weekend Education: As a mentor, I guided participants in two education-focused editions, where teams worked on innovative solutions to address challenges in the education sector.
Through these experiences, I’ve had the opportunity to blend my passion for design, communication, innovation and community building, enabling participants to unlock their creative potential and develop meaningful projects. These events reflect my commitment to fostering collaboration and innovation in diverse contexts, empowering people to create impactful change.
